Bluestockings Magazine is seeking contributing writers for its blog!
We have been in the process of building an engaging, diverse, inclusive and community-driven group of writers, artists and thinkers interested in feminism, gender, sexuality, race, class, and issues of identity and disparity more broadly. Our blog and print platforms feature all sorts of content: fiction, nonfiction, poetry, visual art, comedy, hard-hitting journalism, personal and testimonial submissions, and academic writing focusing on culture, politics, sex, health, and anything else related to women’s or minority’s rights and/or issues.
Regardless of your ability to commit as a contributor, we encourage everyone to consider submitting any piece that they believe is pertinent to our project as a publication. We have an array of fixed writers and encourage regular contributions. On-staff blog writers will be expected to write original content and recommend related web content. Writers should have blogging and social media experience, though we are open to submissions from everyone – regardless of their background. We do not stipulate what the nature of the content should be, though are willing to provide ideas for articles and workshop individual ideas and pieces.
Although all positions are unfortunately unpaid, writing for Bluestockings is an excellent opportunity to publish your work, have it read, gain online exposure, and expand your writing portfolio.
We have recently revamped our blog contributor system, which allows all writers to take on a role that’s feasible within their current schedule. Currently, staff writers are expected to write an article per week, reporters are expected to provide ongoing local news coverage, contributing writers are expected to write two articles per month, and submitters can contribute sporadically.
If you are interested in learning more, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any articles or ideas for articles. If you intend to pursue a regular writing position, please email us a brief cover letter, writing sample, and preferred type of commitment with us.
We look forward to working with you!
Yours, the Editors of Bluestockings Magazine
